The Department of Education (DE) has a statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.
The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Wallarano Primary School.
You can find information and resources about the enrolment timeline and procedures at: Enrolling in Foundation (Prep).
Wallarano provides a Transition Program that is devised to make your child’s entry into school as smooth, comfortable and enjoyable as possible. School Tours are available at any time. The best time for parents to tour is during the school day – this enables parents and children to observe the school while our students are working and experience the positive environment Wallarano provides. Working parents are also given the opportunity to have a good look around – we are very willing to make tour appointments in the evening. All personal tours give relevant information and provide the opportunity for parents to ask questions and have discussions about their child.
Our Foundation teachers visit the Pre-schools to meet the children, observe them in a familiar environment and liaise with the pre-school teacher.
Pre-school children are invited to come along to our school and participate in a variety of classroom activities, meet future classmates, get to know the teachers and familiarise themselves with the school environment. All children enrolled or not, are welcome. During these times, parent information sessions will be conducted to inform parents of school procedures, uniforms and future activities. The Uniform Shop will open at every transition session. Order forms are available at any time and orders will be ready at the office within a week.
All enrolled students will receive an invitation to attend a session in their future classroom to meet their teacher and classmates for 2025.
Your child’s pre-school teacher will ask you to read and sign a transition statement so that they can pass them on to your child’s Foundation teacher. These statements give us important information about your child. Please ensure you sign and return the statement to your pre-school teacher.
