Mr Peter Cameron will be retiring at the end of this year. This will be a huge loss to Wallarano and education in general as he is a dynamic, exciting and true professional who has worked incredibly hard throughout his teaching career. Mr Cameron first came to Wallarano in the year 2001. He left us for a while to teach at Boronia Heights PS but missed us and returned in 2006 and has been here ever since. In total he has taught for 43 years and has been at Wallarano for 16 years. We have been so lucky to have had a teacher of his calibre for such a long time.
In his latest role in Visual Arts and Cultural Studies, Peter has managed to deliver a high quality program that has not only engaged students and teachers but our community as well. His absolute passion throughout his career has been Student Well-being. At Wallarano he has been the pioneer in the implementation of ‘Program Achieve’ which builds the capabilities of successful learners and the ‘Rock and Water Program’ which builds student skills and mindset to cope with the life challenges they may face. In addition to this he has developed the Art Academy Club for students with special talents in the visual arts and has donated a great deal of his own personal time to ensure children gained the most from this experience. Mr Cameron is an extremely popular and influential member of the Wallarano staff and community and we will be deeply saddened to see him leave. We do wish him great happiness and many joyous years ahead and thank him most sincerely for everything he has contributed to Wallarano. The school will be holding a special assembly to celebrate Mr Cameron’s achievements, to say thank you and give him a sincere farewell on Friday 15th December at 3.00pm. We warmly welcome all past and present teachers, parents and most importantly students, to attend.
